Prospects to Watch

The talent level and competition around the state continues to be at an elite level as displayed throughout the June team and elite camp schedule. We saw multiple players picking up offers as well as some of the top teams in the state battling in summer team camp action. Now that team camps are in the rear view, we will turn our focus to the upcoming July evaluation period.

In this article, we will focus on rising senior prospects that are either uncommitted or underrecruited.

Nia Powers - 5'11 Forward - White County/FBC Reign

Nia is a relentless competitor on both ends of the floor doing whatever she can to ensure her team sees the most success. She is a capable scorer on the offensive end with range beyond the arch or willing her way to a bucket at the rim. Her physical toughness allows her to battle in the paint against players that would appear much bigger in size. Powers had an outstanding high school season averaging 17 points and 7 rebounds a game in one of the toughest AAA districts in the state. Be sure to catch her in July at Run for the Roses and on the Under Armour circuit.

Latazia Williamson - 6'1 Forward - Hillsboro/TN Flight Navy

Latazia is one of the most underrecruited players in the 2023 class in Tennessee. She is a phenomenal athlete with great size and strength. She is tough around the rim overpowering defenders and dominating the glass. She moves well up and down the court running rim to rim. She is a must watch in July at Run For the Roses and Battle in the Boro.

Lauren Bryant - 5'8 Point Guard - Wayne County/TN Flight Navy

Lauren is a true PG that displays great fundamentals and a solid understanding of the game. She is coming off of a remarkable high school season helping Wayne County to a Class A state runner-up. She is a great 3-point shooter with range well beyond the arch. A great decision maker with precise passing makes her a nice prospect to watch. Catch her with TN Flight Navy in Louisville at Run For the Roses and Battle in the Boro.

Keira Leffew - 6'1 Forward - CAK/TN Trotters

The word versatile comes to mind when you are talking about Keira. Her size matched with her skillset makes for her an intriguing prospect to watch. She has only scratched the surface on what she can do on the court as plenty of upside remains in her game. You can see this as she is a capable rim-to-rim scorer. Keira plays well in an up-tempo style, but also has no problem executing offense in the half court. She is one to watch this summer on the Elite 40 circuit.

Gabby Beaty - 5'9 Forward - York Institute/FBC Reign

When the conversation is about competitiveness and willingness to do whatever it is to help a team win, Gabby Beaty is at the top of the list. She is coming off of a high school season where she led her team to a state runner-up. On the court, she is a constant mover on the offensive end of the floor allowing her to be available for easy scoring opportunities. She thrives in the physical aspect of the game finishing "and 1's" as if they are casual lay-ups. You will see a little bit of passion with her intensity on the court. She will be at Run for the Roses and on the Under Armour circuit in July.

Jianna Morris - 5'7 Point Guard - Sylvan Hills/FBC Bounce Nation Memphis

Jianna is a crafty lead guard that creates for herself and teammates. Her handles and quickness allow her to create separation to get her shot off. Her shot is pure and consistently falling from multiple evaluations in different settings. She is a high academic kid as well as a great teammate. She is definitely worth watching with her FBC Bounce Nation Memphis team on the Elite 40 circuit in July

Hannah Jones - 6' Forward - Bradley Central/TN Flight Select

Hannah is a high motored forward with a great understanding of how to play from 15 foot and in. She has a great feel of the game on the offensive end of the floor and is always making the right decisions with the basketball. She is capable of keeping the defense honest by stepping out and knocking down the occasional 3. She comes from a high school program that has put its fair share of Division 1 players in college - Rhyne Howard and more. Catch her at Run for the Roses and Battle in the Boro.

Abby McFarland - 5'9 Guard - Providence Christian/TN Team Pride

Abby is a fundamental guard that can absolutely light up the scoreboard. She has great size at the guard position with speed and elusiveness that makes her tough to guard. McFarland is a great competitor and teammate that is always finding the open man. She gets after it on the defensive side and is always pushing the tempo in transition. Check her out at Run for the Roses in July.

Ni'Kiah Chesterfield - 6' Forward - Oakland/Team B-Wright

Ni'Kiah is a skilled face-up forward that is capable of taking her defender off the dribble, pulling up for the mid-range or finishing on both sides of the rim. You can tell the work she puts in as her game continues to grow each time out. Chesterfield is one that would definitely be worth monitoring throughout the July period. You can catch her with Team BWright at Run For the Roses, War Games, and Summer Slam.

Emily Wilson - 5'8 Point Guard - CAK/East TN Air Thunder

A true PG that gets out and runs in transition. Emily does a great job of getting the ball up the floor quickly and finding the open teammate. She does a great job of changing speeds with nice hesitation that beats defenders. The 3 point shot is deadly when left open as displayed on multiple occasions. Check her out at Run for the Roses and War Games.
