6 GAMES WE CAN'T WAIT TO WATCH IN MEMPHIS

Much like our All-Preseason team, it was a tough time coming up with just six games in Memphis that we’re excited about. After going through all of the schedules, I’ve come up with the 6 best games in Memphis or the surrounding area this season that you should try to get out to this fall.

  1. Houston @ Germantown Sat. Aug. 23 – Houston has been the class of Memphis for the last couple of years and playing for the Gold Ball. While I think the Mustangs will still be a player for a State title, Germantown should be vastly improved. The Red Devils finished 7-4 and lost to Collierville in the 2nd round of the playoffs. They return a ton of talent and should be in the mix for the 8-6A crown. Two of the top teams in Memphis in Week 1 makes this easily one of the best games potentially of the year.

 2. Whitehaven @ Southwind Fri. Oct. 10 – You might not find a game that’ll have as much talent on the field as you will this one. This very well could also be the 8-6A Championship game. The Jags are back in 6A for the first time since 2014 and have plenty of talent coming with them led by star QB Kelvin Perkins. Whitehaven has all the tools to make a deep run in the playoffs with weapons at almost every position on the field. So, if you’re in Memphis on October 10th, go catch this one.

 3. MASE @ Fairley Thu Oct. 30- The defending 1A champions will more than likely be playing for the 8-2A title in this one. Fairley was 1 game away from Chattanooga last season but still return plenty of talent including Mr. Football finalist Andrew Johnson at QB. MASE might have the best defense I watched last season and expect them to be just as good with returning stars Akeem Hunt, Jamarkus Pittman, and Kaidence Nelson. This will be a scary good matchup to kick off Halloween Weekend on a Thursday night.

4. Melrose @ Fairley Fri Aug. 29- A massive non region matchup to start the season in Week 2. Melrose is always a powerhouse in whatever classification, they’re in and they’ve made the move down to 3A. Which means bad news for the West side of the bracket. Fairley has been one game away from playing for a state title the last two seasons and I expect this one to be a good test for both sides and they move into Region play.

5. Germantown @ Whitehaven Fri Sept. 12 – Outside of the team names I could just copy and paste what I said about Whitehaven and Southwind for this one. Another one that could decide the 8-6A region title. With this one being early in the season, we’ll already have a clue how the region could play out with whoever wins this one.

6. Collierville @ Houston Thu Oct. 30- The Thursday before Halloween is jam packed with good games to go to if you’re trying to decide. A rematch of the Quarterfinals last season that the Mustangs won. This one could also decide the 7-6A region championship.

We’re releasing the 2025 Gridiron Blitz Preseason Team for Memphis and the surrounding areas along with this one. We’ll also be releasing the rest of West Tennessee Games to Watch and Preseason teams later in the week.
