6 GAMES WE CAN'T WAIT TO WATCH
Traditional powers, state champions, good coaches, and insanely good talent...What more could you ask for? There's definitely more than 6 games that I can't wait for but I narrowed it down to just these.
Huntingdon @ Milan- Fri. Sept. 5- The 2025 version of the Dog and Pony Show is always a big draw. Even though Huntingdon lost Mr. Everything Gray Eubanks, the Mustangs will still return plenty of talent. Milan, on the other hand, is returning 2A Mr. Football Jaydon Peete and most of their team from their trip to Chattanooga last season. This has been one of my favorite games of the year for as long as I can remember and I expect this one to be another classic in this great rivarly.
Huntingdon @ McKenzie- Fri. Aug 22- This one has opened the season every year since 2017. The Rebs have won the last 5 matchups. Both teams are replacing great QBs this year and are "reloading." You know what you're getting with Huntingdon every year. They will line up and run it down your throat. McKenzie's Cole Brown will step into the QB1 spot after earning All State at receiver last year. There's some very good games to start the year, but if you're wanting to see a great rivarly with two great teams and coaches, head on down to Carroll County for this year's installment of Huntingdon and McKenzie.
USJ @ TCA- Fri. Sept. 5- This one will have a little extra to it this season. Louisville committ and former TCA running back has took his talents to USJ. TCA will come in to this one wanting to take it to the Bruins. This will be a fun one. There's still plenty of talent on both sides of the field and I fully expect this to be a dog fight.
JCM @ Milan- Fri. Sept. 26- JCM was one of the best surprises of the season. These two split their matchups last season, but Milan got the best of the Cougars in the playoffs. This one could be for the 7-2A Region Title too. Both games were polar opposites last season with the regular season matchup JCM taking it 47-38 and Milan took a 14-7 win in the playoffs. A whole bunch of eyes will be on this one late in September including ours.
Dresden @ McKenzie- Fri. Aug 29- I believe Dresden could be one of the most improved in all of West Tennessee. Dresden will be lead by Cooper Allman and Luke DiPietro and both are potential All State performers. McKenzie has gotten the best of Dresden the last few times including a Semifinal matchup a couple years ago. This one will be better than last year's game for sure. If you decided not to go to McKenzie in Week 1, then head there in Week 2 for the Lions and Rebels.
Milan @ Union City- Fri. Oct. 3- This one might be here because of my own personal bias. These two are traditional powers in Tennessee and 8 State Titles between the two of them. Union City will be replacing their quarterback this off-season, Zak Summers, who is now the QB at Milan. I'd expect the Tornadoes would want this one bad. With all that going on, these two used to be a great rivarly and now that Union City is back in the same region with the Bulldogs, this should be a fun matchup for years to come.
There's plenty of other games that I'm excited for including Lake County/Dresden, Riverside/Huntingdon, and Peabody/Milan. You could pretty much just look up any 7-2A region matchup this season and you'd get a good game. I'm putting out our All-Preseason team along with this one today. Be on the lookout for much more content from the Gridiron Blitz with football season on the horizon.
